Artist Profile

  Linda Nardelli

As an artist of the 21st century, I am influenced by modern shapes and also compelled by its history. I respond to the contrast that exists between man-made structures and organic elements and draw on the place in which they unite. In my work I intend to balance these opposite qualities to form a peaceful interplay. I believe that this is a sensitive approach to art that sustains intuition, which relates to emotions and spiritual connection.

My work is an energy-based form of art that moves outside linear patterns of thought to perceive reality with unpredictable curiosity. When I resist the urge to observe my art with conscious limitations, I play in the field of quantum possibilities. This is a vital field of consciousness that art embodies and transforms. In this way, the art creates itself out of the ranges of my control, and each individual work of art becomes its own unique personality. When creativity is allowed to express this vital force, art arises from a profound inner realm out into the world. Shaped by the relationship between this mystery and life’s influences, my art becomes an Alter of spirituality and a place for healing.

I believe that art crosses over the border between what we perceive as real and the unseen. It takes a vivid imagination to consider that physical reality is not as it seems, it challenges what we think is factual. It’s interesting to note that the word “fact” comes from the Latin word factum, which means “made up.”

In my work I fabricate a language of symbols that is formed by scratched markings in expansive interlocking patterns. These represent the dialogue between external stimulus and internal reflections. There is no pre-determined causal approach; instead the symbols invoke the playfulness of imagination, unconsciously appropriated from ancient cultures. The markings happen naturally and afterwards I have by chance found a similarity to them in Aboriginal cave paintings and books on Indigenous art. I don’t know how this comes to be, except to “imagine” the relationship between all cultures and time interwoven in the present, all existing as one multidimensional system of energy.
